David’s Training for the Battle

Good evening, beloved friends and brethren gathered here in Valladolid, Yucatan, Mexico; today, August 2, 2001, it’s a great blessing for me to be with you on this occasion, to share some moments of fellowship with you around the Word of God and His Program relevant to this end time.

For this occasion, let’s read in First Samuel, chapter… (let’s see…), chapter 17, verses 31 and on of First Samuel, it says:

“And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him.

And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him (that is, because of Goliath); thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.

And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.

And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it (that is, he delivered the lamb) out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.”

May God bless our souls with His Word and allow us to understand It.

Our subject is: “DAVID’S TRAINING FOR THE BATTLE.”

We find in this passage that David’s training for battle was obtained in the field, as a shepherd of sheep.

Now, who was young David, this young man? When it refers to a young man, that’s 18 years and under; because 21 years and [above], that’s already an adult in many countries; and here, from 18 years and above, one is already an adult.

Now, we find that this young man David was none other than a son of Jesse, he was none other than the eighth son of Jesse; and he was none other [than] the young man who had been anointed as king to reign over all the Hebrew people, he had been anointed as king in Saul’s place; but Saul didn’t know that, and he didn’t know what kind of a young man he was dealing with.

And now, notice, in chapter 16 is… of First Samuel, is when David is anointed. It says in chapter 16, verse 1 and on, of First Samuel, it says:

“And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the Lord said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the Lord.

And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.

And Samuel did that which the Lord spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?”

Remember that Samuel is the last of the judges and he is also a prophet. When he would arrive… Well, when a person arrives at court to be judged, and he sees the judge appear, he feels fear, he feels frightened. And here, when they see Samuel (the last of the judges) appear in Bethlehem of Judea, they are filled with fear, and they ask him… they ask him, notice, it says:

“And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?

And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the Lord: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the Lord’s anointed is before him.”

Eliab was Jesse’s oldest son, and he was tall, strong, and very elegant. And he says:

“Surely the Lord’s anointed is before him.”

Why before the Lord? Because the Lord was with Samuel and was in Samuel, therefore he was before the Lord.

“But the Lord said unto Samuel…”

See? The Lord was there; the Angel of the Covenant, the Angel of the Lord, who is the same Lord in His heavenly body, He was there accompanying Samuel. But no one saw the Lord; but Samuel did know that He was there, and He spoke to Samuel; and he saw Him when He wanted to allow Himself to be seen, because Samuel could see in other dimensions.

“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature (notice: ‘Don’t look at his countenance,’ he was a good looking man; ‘nor at his stature,’ and tall too); because I have refused him (‘he’s not the one’): for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance…”

In other words, let’s say he sees the “outer shell” of the human being, which is the body; he looks at the earthly house, which is the one that is visible in this dimension.

“… for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart (the soul!).”

The Lord sees the human being for what the human being really is: a living soul.

“Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the Lord chosen this.”

God didn’t say to him: “This is the man.” And if he saw that he was also tall, he said: “No, God already said not to look at the person’s appearance or height; and He told me: ‘Don’t look at his appearance and don’t look at his height either, because I refuse him.’”

“Neither hath the Lord chosen this.

Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath the Lord chosen this.

Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The Lord hath not chosen these.”

Notice, Jesse made seven sons pass by, he made his sons pass by before Samuel, but God didn’t choose any of them to be king over all the Hebrew people. And now Samuel asks:

“And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.

And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.”

He was identified by God Himself, He identified him to Samuel, and Samuel identified him there to Jesse and to those who were there.

“Then Samuel took the horn of oil (and the oil represents what? The Holy Spirit), and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.”

Here we can see that this young man who was going to fight Goliath had already been anointed as king, he had already been anointed with the oil, which represents the Holy Spirit.

And now, it tells us:

“… and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward.”

See? He was anointed with oil by a prophet, and the oil represents the Holy Spirit; and what the oil represented came upon David: the Holy Spirit.

And now, in the life of this young man David, we have the most beautiful representation of Christ and the Anointed One of Christ at the Last Day, to face Goliath, who is the antichrist, the man of sin, to obtain the victory against the antichrist, the man of sin, the beast, at this end time.

Just like Jesse had eight sons (the youngest being David), now Christ has had seven angel-messengers in the seven ages, which are represented in the seven sons of Jesse who first passed before Samuel; but none of them was anointed by Christ to sit on His Throne with Christ.

And now, we find that no one knew that Jesse had another son, in other words, he didn’t introduce him there; he had him out in the field, away, shepherding sheep. In other words, a shepherd of sheep would be God’s chosen one, who would have a heart after God’s own heart[1] and who was being trained to be king; and no one knew it, not even David himself knew it, nor did his father know it.

But now, when God is going to anoint the one who will be king in Saul’s place, to be king over Israel and sit on the throne, notice who He chooses: the youngest in Jesse’s family. The rest were not shepherds of sheep, but this one was a shepherd of sheep and he was out in the field, he was the youngest in the family.

And now, notice, throughout the ages Christ has had His seven angel-messengers; for just as David comes from the house of Jesse, Jesus Christ also comes from the house of Jesse.

And now, Jesse and his sons represented Christ and His angel-messengers.

And now, all those born in Christ through the new birth: have been born in Bethlehem of Judea, and the angel-messengers of the Lord Jesus Christ have been born in Bethlehem of Judea, and are descendants of Jesse; and now, they are descendants of Christ, who is the Jesse who has His sons, and among them one will be anointed to sit with Christ on His Throne, just as David was anointed to sit on the Throne of the Lord on Earth.

And now, Christ, notice, also being a descendant of Jesse —therefore, a descendant of David— was anointed to sit on the Throne of God in Heaven.

And then, of the angel-messengers of the Lord Jesus Christ, there will be one who will sit with Christ on His Throne; and it must be the eighth, because the seven angel-messengers of the seven ages have already passed and God, the Holy Spirit, didn’t anoint any of them with the anointing of King, to sit with Christ on His Throne.

And now, the Throne of God on Earth is the Throne of David. That is why when King Solomon sat on the Throne of David, the Scripture says… let’s see in Chronicles, First Chronicles, chapter 29, it says… verses 22 to 23:

“And did eat and drink before the Lord on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto the Lord to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.”

Notice, the king and high priest are always leading the people.

“Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.”

Where did King Solomon sit? It says:

“Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David.”

The throne of David, upon which David ruled, is God’s Throne on Earth, it is the Throne of God’s Kingdom on Earth; it is God’s Throne upon which David reigned and ruled the Hebrew people; and that was God through David ruling over the Hebrew people.

That is why the king must be after whose heart? God’s; so that God’s thoughts are transmitted to the heart of that king, and he reigns according to God’s wishes, he reigns according to the desire of God’s heart.

And now, we find that this Throne of David is God’s Throne on Earth in the midst of the Hebrew people, it is the Throne of God’s Kingdom on Earth.

And now, that throne has been empty for thousands of years, because the Hebrew people have been without a king for thousands of years. But we have the Biblical promise that the Kingdom of God will be restored on Earth, and therefore, the Throne of David will be restored, which is the Throne of God’s Kingdom on Earth, to rule over the Hebrew people.

The Archangel Gabriel prophesied about this in Saint Luke, chapter 1, verse 31 and on, speaking to the virgin Mary and saying to her:

“And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”

And that will be God’s Kingdom restored on Earth in the midst of the Hebrew people; and therefore, there will be a king upon the Throne of David again.

Christ is the heir to that Throne. And because Christ is the heir to that Throne… And Christ sat on the Throne of God in Heaven, therefore, He sat on the Throne of God’s Kingdom over all Creation; and that is why Christ said in Saint Matthew 28: “All power is given unto Me in Heaven and on Earth.”

And now, the One who sits on the Throne obtains the power over the Heavens and the Earth; because from His heavenly Throne, God reigns over the Heavens and the Earth, He is the King of the Heavens and the Earth. But now the earthly Throne of God, and of God’s earthly Kingdom in the midst of the Hebrew people, is the Throne of David.

And now, in Revelation, chapter 3, verse 21, Christ says:

“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”

And just as the Father granted Him to sit with Him on His heavenly Throne…

He granted Jesus Christ, upon defeating the devil… By Christ dying, going to hell, fighting against the devil, taking the keys of hell and death away from the devil; and then going to Paradise, resurrecting the Old Testament saints…

The Old Testament saints resurrected with Christ. In Saint Matthew 27 it tells us that they rose from the grave, from the graves, after His resurrection (meaning, after the resurrection of Christ). Saint Matthew 27, verse 51 and on, says:

“And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”

And the Lord Himself also appeared unto many; the Scripture says that Christ appeared to more than five hundred people on different occasions. Saint Paul the apostle says that when he writes to the Corinthians. And also when (in the book of Acts) Christ says goodbye to His disciples, there is also a group there of people who are with Him, and who see Him ascend to Heaven.[2]

And now, in First Corinthians, chapter 15, verse 6… Chapter 15, verse 6, of First Corinthians, notice what Saint Paul the apostle says; speaking about the resurrection of Christ, he says… chapter 15, verse 3 and on, let’s read:

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:

After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.

And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.”

Here we can see that after Christ resurrected, He appeared to more than five hundred people at once; therefore, He had a meeting; after being resurrected and glorified, He had a meeting with a congregation of more than five hundred people at once.

Now, upon Christ resurrecting victoriously and ascending to Heaven, He sat on God’s Throne, at the right hand of God; which means that He was given all power and authority in Heaven, and He is the King of the Heavens and the Earth, and everything has been granted to Christ.

That is why “the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son.”[3] That is why Saint Paul also teaches that Christ is the One who will judge the living and also the dead.[4]

And now, Christ says:

[Revelation 3:21] “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”

Just like Christ overcame the devil and sat… – He ascended to Heaven victorious and sat on the Throne of God and received power over the Heavens and the Earth; now Christ will grant to the Overcomer of the Last Day, who will obtain the victory against the devil, against the antichrist, against the man of sin… because the devil will become incarnate in the man of sin, in the antichrist, but the Overcomer of the Last Day will obtain the victory against the antichrist.

The antichrist is typified in Goliath; therefore, against the antichrist, the modern Goliath, there will be One anointed with the Holy Spirit, with the Oil of the Holy Spirit, who will obtain the victory against Goliath and against all the Philistines.

For David, the presence of Goliath there was death personified, because he said to him: “Come, for I will hang you on the tip of my spear and put you on the tree, so that the fowls of the air eat you.” So, death was incarnate there in Goliath, to and against David.

And now, here in Revelation we find death incarnate. In chapter 6, verses 7 to 8, of Revelation, it says:

“And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”

There we have death incarnate in the man of sin, in the antichrist; it’s the beast.

And then, in Revelation, chapter 17, verse 8 and on, it says:

“The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the (Lamb’s) book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”

There we have the great battle appointed for the Last Day, which was represented, typified back in that battle of David against Goliath.

And now, for this end time Goliath is the beast, the man of sin, in whom the devil will be incarnate. And our David for this end time will be Christ manifested at the Last Day; and He will manifest Himself in His eighth messenger, and that messenger will be anointed with the Holy Spirit; therefore, he will be the One anointed to sit with Christ in His Kingdom.

This is the same Angel-Messenger of Revelation, chapter 7, verse 3 and on, where it says… verse 2 and on, where it says:

“And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God…”

Which is the Seal of the living God? The Holy Spirit. This Angel comes with the Holy Spirit, he comes with the Oil, he comes anointed with the Holy Spirit; he is the One who is anointed with the Oil, to sit with Christ on Christ’s Throne. That’s why he is also the One who will call and gather 144,000 Hebrews, 12,000 of each tribe, once he has called and gathered the elect of the Mystical Body of Christ, of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Last Day.

Since he is the eighth angel-messenger of Jesus Christ, he comes in the Eighth Age, which is the Age of the Cornerstone; and he fulfills the type and figure of David being the eighth son of Jesse; this is the eighth son of Christ, the eighth angel-messenger of Jesus Christ.

And now, it says:

[Revelation 7:2] “… and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.”

And he begins to list: 12,000 sealed of the tribe of Judah, and likewise, he goes on to list 12,000 sealed of the tribe of Reuben, and so on, he continues to list 12,000 sealed of each tribe.

And now, he is the One who comes anointed with the Seal of the living God, with the Oil, with the Holy Spirit; because the oil represents the Holy Spirit. He comes with the anointing for the Last Day; and that anointing has to do with the ministry that he will carry out in favor of the elect from among the Gentiles of the Mystical Body of Christ, and of the elect of the Hebrew people, which are 144,000 Hebrews, and of the promise of Christ seating him on His Throne.

He must be anointed to sit upon the Throne of David with Christ our Savior; he must be anointed with the anointing Oil, the Oil of the Holy Spirit, and he must have overcome.

Because one who hasn’t overcome, who hasn’t overcome the antichrist, the man of sin, the beast, can’t sit on the Throne, as King, with Christ on His Throne. And the one who will overcome him will be that Angel; because he will have the anointing, and Christ will be in him in His final manifestation.

Therefore, it will be Christ in His Angel.

Just as it was the Lord in David who defeated Goliath, it will be Jesus Christ in His Angel who will defeat the antichrist, the man of sin, the beast, at the Last Day.

Now, we can see where we are in God’s Program relevant to this end time, and we can see this very beautiful story of David, as a young man, being anointed by Samuel with the anointing oil, to be the one anointed to sit on the throne and rule over the Hebrew people; which is the type and figure of what will be happening at this end time.

Before facing the man of sin, the antichrist, the beast, the one who will obtain the victory will first be anointed with the anointing of King. Therefore, Christ will be with him, just as God, the Angel of the Lord, the Angel of the Covenant, was with David. It says that after David was anointed, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, the Angel of the Covenant, the Angel of the Lord, began to manifest Himself in David.[5]

We find that David had already received training as a shepherd of sheep; but now, once he is anointed and… He also spent some time there with Saul, who had problems because the Spirit of God had departed from Saul and an evil spirit had come to Saul, and they sought out a young man who knew how to play the harp, so that he could play the harp, and Saul could feel well; and they brought David, who was a shepherd, but they knew David played the harp; and they took him, and he felt better.[6]

Notice, when the one who was anointed to be king played his harp before the king who was there (but that king had already been rejected), he felt well; he felt very refreshed and he would get very happy, very joyful.

After some time he had to go, for some reason, and he went to shepherd the sheep. There, surely he continued his training, with God training him; because then once the time comes for the battle of the Hebrew people: Saul (the king) and his army, against the Philistines, the Scripture says that three of Jesse’s sons were enlisted, the three oldest ones were enlisted in the army, therefore, they were in that army that was going to fight against the Philistines. And Jesse comes and calls David, who we already know was anointed.

And, surely, after he was anointed was when he had those great experiences, or the experiences that he had were greater, because the Spirit of God was in him, He manifested Himself in him; and therefore… just as He manifested Himself in Samson, who could kill a lion,[7] or could do anything great by the strength that God manifested through him; but it was the strength of God, the power of God.

And now, Jesse calls his son David, who was a young man; he was not of age yet, he couldn’t enlist in the army yet; he calls him and says to him: “Go, see how your brothers are doing there in Saul’s army, because we are in a time of war. Take them this food, and bring some of their clothing, have them send it to me so that I know they are alive;” some article of clothing of theirs that Jesse recognized, well, they had to send it to him so that he could know they were alive.

And now…: “And to the one who is in charge of their regiment, the one who is in charge of the thousand soldiers of the group that they belong to, take these ten cheeses to him,” in other words, so that (you know) “he treats my boys, my sons, well”; so that they know that their father is looking out for them; and that he appreciates the general who is in charge of those thousand soldiers.

And David went there with all of that. And when he arrives, what happens? He speaks with his brothers and so on. But first, it says that that giant man came out and started to defy the Hebrew people, the army of Israel; and David heard him.

That was Goliath’s mistake: speaking when David was present, when the Anointed One of God was present, the one anointed to be king.

And when David heard this… Now notice, David was speaking with his brothers when he heard Goliath. Notice, chapter 17, verse 20 and on, says [First Samuel]:

“And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle.

For Israel and the Philistines had put the battle in array, army against army.

And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren.

And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.

And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.

And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? (In other words, that giant: ‘Have you seen that giant who came up?’ And they were filled with fear) surely to defy Israel is he come up…”

“…[They] said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel.

And David spake…”

Notice, he had offered all this to whoever overcame the giant; but no one dared. With such a great reward: to be the king’s son-in-law, to marry the king’s daughter, and for his family to be exempt from taxes, from giving tributes; and he would become a rich man, he would become royalty. But no one was willing to accept the king’s offer, because, who could overcome Goliath and live to marry the king’s daughter? He would become bird food instead, and not the king’s son-in-law.

“And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?

And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.

And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle (in other words, his older brother knew that David was fierce).

And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?”

He had to tell him: “No, this is just… I’m talking, asking, investigating.” Well, why didn’t David’s older brother go and fight the giant? And now he’s upset because his younger brother is looking into it!

“And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.

And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him.

And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him (in other words: ‘Don’t let any of your hearts fail because of Goliath’); thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.”

Now notice how the king couldn’t find any man there, any soldier, and a shepherd appears, a young man, and he says: “I will go fight.”

Perhaps Saul thought: “This young man doesn’t know what war is, he doesn’t know what it’s like to face a warrior like Goliath; this young man isn’t a military man, he has no military training.” Which would mean, at the Last Day, that he has no theological training, with doctorates of divinity, of theology, to face the Goliath, the antichrist, the man of sin, the beast.

It says:

“And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.

And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

Now notice, David was already anointed, and he had significant experiences killing lions and killing bears, defending (what?) his father’s sheep.

We find that the antichrist, the man of sin (in whom the devil will be incarnate), is the one who will have the last empire of the Gentiles, which at the end time will be in the feet of iron and clay; therefore, it will be in the stage in which the Divine judgment will come upon it, and in which Christ will overcome him.

Now, we find in Revelation, chapter 17, where we read previously… We saw that Death comes, because it is the pale-horse rider of Revelation, chapter 6, verses 7 to 8.

And now, in Revelation 17, it is the beast, and it comes and will fight against the Lamb. It says… let’s continue reading Revelation 17; it says: “And the beast that…” verse 11 and on:

“And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition (there it says: ‘And hell followed with him,’ in chapter 6, verses 7 to 8, of Revelation).

Those who are with Him are the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of past ages and of our age.

And now, that is the Army of Christ, the Army of the Lord; that is the Army… just like the army of the Hebrew people was God’s army back then, now in the New Testament, the Army of God, the Army of Christ, is His Church; because it is the heavenly Israel: the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

And now, in Revelation, chapter 19, verses 14 and on… or 11 and on, we have Christ here; it says:

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.”

The dead believers in Him come resurrected in eternal bodies, and we who are alive will be transformed. And the mighty Army of Christ will be there, the mighty Army of the King and Prince of the heavenly Hosts!

“And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations (and He will smite the antichrist and his kingdom, his empire, in the stage of the feet of iron and clay): and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.”

There we have the Army of the Lord of Hosts, with Christ, the white-horse Rider, leading His Army.

“And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.”

This battle here, of Revelation, was reflected in this battle that the Hebrew people, Saul and his army had, where, who was put at the head of that army? David, who typifies Christ in His final manifestation.

Now notice, back then the beast is destroyed and so is its army (all those people), and they are given to the fowls for food. Notice that it was the Angel’s call for them to come to the Supper of the great God, to eat the flesh of the captains, of horses, of people, and of everyone.

And now, notice here when David stands before Goliath. It says… chapter 17, verses 40 and on, says [First Samuel]:

“And he took his staff in his hand…”

Remember that Saul had put military armor on him: a shield and all these things, and a sword, but David wasn’t able to walk. Let’s see here, verse 38 and on, says:

“And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.

And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.

And he took his staff in his hand (and the staff represents the Word), and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.

And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.

And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.

Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee…”

And he didn’t have a sword: what he had was a staff and a sling. How is he going to cut off his head? David had already seen the sword he was going to use, and it was Goliath’s own sword.

“… and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”

See? David was going to give the bodies of the Philistines to whom? To the fowls of the air and to the beasts of the earth, just as Revelation says over here.

In other words, what happens in the book of Revelation, in chapter 19 and chapter 17, is the present-day fulfillment of what was represented back then, in this battle that took place at that time, and where David was the main character. There we have the type and figure of what would happen in Revelation 17 and Revelation, chapter 19, verses 11 to 21.

And now, the antitype is in Revelation, chapter 17, verse 8 to 18, and Revelation 19, verse 11 to 21; and the type and figure appears first, it appears back in the time of David.

It goes on to say:

“And all this assembly (of Israel) shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s…”

And this battle of Revelation is God’s as well, for the great and dreadful day of the Lord, the day of vengeance of our God.

“And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David (surely, he thought: ‘When this boy sees me up close, he will run away;’ and all those among the Hebrew people thought the same thing), that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.”

See how he was fierce? He was anointed with the Spirit of God! And he knew that God would give him the victory!

Well, how did David know that? If he had been anointed by the prophet Samuel with the anointing oil to be king over Israel, how would he be king if Goliath the giant killed him? Then he couldn’t be king. Therefore, God would give him the victory against Goliath; he was not to die in that battle, because he had been anointed to be king over all the Hebrew people.

It’s just like when the Angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah and his wife, and then Manoah says: “We are going to die, because we have seen God face to face.” And his wife says to him: “If we were going to die, God wouldn’t have told us all these things: that we will have a son, and all these things.”[8] See?

And now, if David was going to die before Goliath, then God wouldn’t have anointed him as king over the Hebrew people; because how is God going to anoint a young man to be king over the Hebrew people and have him die before sitting on the Throne? He was already predestined to be king; therefore, in all the battles of his life, he would obtain the victory, God would give him the victory; and they would be like stepping stones until he reached the throne.

“And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.

So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword (meaning, the Philistine’s, Goliath’s), and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.

And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.

And the children of Israel returned from chasing after the Philistines, and they spoiled their tents.

And David took the head of the Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armour in his tent (in other words, David kept the Philistine’s weapons).

And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said unto Abner, the captain of the host, Abner, whose son is this youth? And Abner said, As thy soul liveth, O king, I cannot tell.

And the king said, Enquire thou whose son the stripling is.

And as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand.”

He took him the trophy there. The best trophy for Saul was Goliath’s head. By killing one they obtained the victory against them all.

“Abner took him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand.

And Saul said to him, Whose son art thou, thou young man? And David answered, I am the son of thy servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.”

Now, we can see how a young man obtains the victory against the greatest enemy in terms of stature, and who was backed by a Philistine army as well, and who had how many other brothers? Four other brothers; therefore, David had a little stone for each one of them.

They didn’t wait, Goliath’s other brothers didn’t wait for their little stone: they ran away; and surely if there were plants and animals around there, those giants stepped all over them. Imagine! Them being so big and running away; fleeing, running away from a child, from a boy, from a young man; but they were running away from whom? From the one who was anointed with the anointing of king.

Now, we have seen how David was trained: he was trained by the Holy Spirit that was upon him; He trained him by shepherding sheep.

When a lion appeared and took a sheep, David followed it, took the sheep from it; and if the lion rose up against him, then David seized it by the jawbone, killed it, and took the sheep away; and if it was a bear, he did the same thing.

It was the strength, the power of the Holy Spirit, of the Spirit of God in David, to be able to do that; because no person would face a lion.

Now, we have seen how David was trained: In his ministry of shepherding sheep, he was trained there to then be king over all the Hebrew people. Likewise, notice, Christ was trained to be King of the entire Universe, to sit on the Throne of the Father in Heaven.

And now, the Angel of the Lord Jesus Christ is also trained by shepherding sheep.

How was Moses trained? Also in the wilderness for 40 years, to then be the instrument of the Holy Spirit, of the Angel of the Lord, for the deliverance of the Hebrew people; to be the leader of the Hebrew people, the lawgiver of the Hebrew people and prophet of the Hebrew people.

And at the Last Day, the Angel of the Lord Jesus Christ, the eighth son of Christ as a messenger… because we are all children of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the one who brings forth —by His Spirit— the new birth, and that is why we are sons and daughters of God. We come through Christ, the second Adam, the Son of God, who is reproducing Himself in sons and daughters of God.

And of all the messenger-sons, Christ will have the last messenger, the youngest of them, the Benjamin of the family of the messengers of Jesus Christ, for His Church. And he will be anointed —he will have the Seal of the living God— to be able to face the antichrist, the man of sin, at this end time, and obtain the Great Victory in Love Divine.

And now, we will not speak much about this so that the enemy doesn’t know that Christ has a great battle that will be fought against the antichrist. Because the antichrist is the one who is going to rise up against Christ with the ten kings; but Christ will overcome him. It will be Christ in His Angel, just as Christ, God, the Lord, in David, was the One who overcame Goliath.

Now, we have seen that it was the Lord, the Angel of the Lord, who gave David the victory. And it will be the Angel of the Lord, Christ, our Savior, who will give His Angel the victory; he will be the one who will obtain the Great Victory in Love Divine and sit with Christ in His Throne; because he will be anointed to sit with Christ in His Throne; he will be anointed before facing the Goliath, the antichrist, the man of sin, in whom the devil will be incarnate.

The devil will be incarnate in the man of sin; but Christ will have already anointed His Angel-Messenger, and therefore, he will have the anointing of Christ, he will have the Seal of the living God; and therefore, he will obtain the Great Victory in Love Divine, and he will sit with Christ in His Throne. That Throne is the Throne of David, the Throne of the Kingdom of God over the Hebrew people and in the midst of the Hebrew people.

Notice why Christ, when they asked Him: “Will You restore the Kingdom of Israel at this time?” (that is in the book of Acts, chapter 1), Christ said: “It is not for you to know the times and the seasons which the Father has put in His own power.”

The Kingdom couldn’t be restored unto the Hebrew people at that time, why? Because It will be restored after this battle.

After this battle, once the antichrist has been defeated, in whom the devil will be manifested, once the devil has been defeated… because to defeat the antichrist is to overcome the devil, who will be in the antichrist. And Christ will overcome him at this end time, for Christ to establish His Kingdom, the Kingdom of God among the Hebrew people; and Christ will rule over the Hebrew people and over all the nations.

The Gentile kingdom will be removed, which at this time is in the stage of the feet of iron and clay; the kingdom of the beast will be taken away, which is the kingdom of the feet of iron and clay of the time of Daniel’s prophecy that refers to this time.[9]

Now notice, in the empire of the Gentiles, which is in four stages… in the fourth stage, that fourth stage has two important parts.

Now, in the prophecy of Daniel chapter 7, we find that those stages of Daniel, chapter 2, which were: the head of gold, the chest and arms of silver…:

  • The Head of gold was the Babylonian empire with King Nebuchadnezzar.
  • The chest and arms of silver was the Medo-Persian empire.
  • The belly and thighs of bronze was the Greek empire.
  • The legs of iron was the Roman empire;
  • and the feet of iron and clay is the kingdom of the antichrist.

And all of that is also represented in chapter 7, in the beasts that appear there:

  • The Babylonian empire is represented in the lion.
  • The Medo-Persian empire is represented in the bear.
  • And the Greek empire is represented in the tiger.
  • And then appears the beast which is different from all the rest.

And if the Babylonian empire was defeated: the lion, and the bear was defeated, notice, now Christ will overcome the beast, the Goliath of the Last Day, the antichrist with his kingdom, which will have all the characteristics of the previous empires.

When Goliath appeared, that was a beast; and that is why he represents the antichrist, the man of sin, who is mentioned in the Bible as the beast.

Now, we can see that for this end time there is a great battle, in which the victory is already prophesied for Christ and His Church, and for the Anointed One of Christ at the Last Day, who is the eighth messenger-son of Christ our Savior.

In Revelation, chapter 2, verse 26 and on, it says:

“And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.”

Notice, just as Christ Jesus received all that power of the Father over the Heavens and the Earth, now Christ will grant the Overcomer power over the nations: He will grant him power here on the Earth, to rule over all the nations with Christ on His Throne.

In Revelation 21, verse 5 and on, 5 to 7 says… Let’s read the… 5 to 7 says:

“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the (first) beginning and the (last) end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.”

In other words, He gives him the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and he obtains the new birth, and he obtains the heavenly theophanic body; and He gives him his transformation, and he obtains the immortal, incorruptible, and glorified physical body.

“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”

That is what Christ says, who is the One that is sitting on the heavenly Throne; Christ is sitting on the Father’s Throne, and He is overseeing all the Father’s business, ruling there. And now, He speaks this blessing to the Overcomer.

“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”

Therefore, just like the seven angel-messengers are sons of the One who is sitting on the Throne, of Jesus Christ, and every born-again believer in Christ is a child of Jesus Christ, a son or daughter of Jesus Christ; this person who will overcome at the Last Day is a son of Jesus Christ, or a son of God through Jesus Christ our Savior.

And now, we have seen who will be the one that will obtain the Great Victory in Love Divine at this Last Day, just as David obtained it; it was the Angel of the Lord, God in David, who obtained the great victory there.

Now, that victory brought great blessings to David. And now, at the Last Day this victory will bring great blessings to the Overcomer and to the entire group of his time, to his entire Family, and to all the Mystical Body of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to the Hebrew people as well.

In Second Thessalonians, chapter 2, verse 1 to 10, it also speaks to us there about the antichrist, about the man of sin, and about the end of the antichrist, of the man of sin.

And in Isaiah, chapter 11, verse 1 to 15, it also speaks to us there about the rod or branch of Jesse that will sprout, who will judge with righteousness, and who will slay the wicked with the Spirit of His mouth; with the Spirit of His mouth, which is the Word.

Now, we can see that everything that happened in the past is a type and figure of what will be happening at this end time.

If that was great back then, it is even greater now at this end time! And it will not only have an earthly impact, but a universal impact. Universal, not only referring to the earthly world, but referring to all the galaxies and referring to all the dimensions. It will be a victory that will impact all of Creation!

So, DAVID’S TRAINING FOR THE BATTLE is very important; and he was trained by the Holy Spirit, who was in him, after being anointed as king. And how did He train him? By fighting. In the battles he had while shepherding the sheep, protecting the sheep, that is where he obtained his training and his trust in God. His faith in God was so great that he knew he would obtain the victory.

Just like at the Last Day the Anointed One with the Spirit of God, the One who comes with the Seal of the living God, the Angel who comes with the Seal of the living God, will know that he will obtain the victory against the antichrist; because Christ will be in His Anointed One, His Angel-Messenger; and he will know that Christ will give him the victory against the antichrist.

Christ will be the One who will obtain that victory. Therefore, it will be Christ’s Victory in Love Divine, in favor of all the elect of God, of all His Church.

And the kingdom of the antichrist in the feet of iron and clay will be removed, and the Kingdom of Christ will be established on Earth. Revelation, chapter 11, verse 15 to 19, there it is, everything is shown there as well. It says:

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever (see? There is a change of kingdom here).

And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,

Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.

And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.”

There we can see how the kingdom of the Gentiles —the kingdom in the stage of the feet of iron and clay, which is the stage of the kingdom of the antichrist— will end; and the Kingdom of God will be established on Earth, which is the Millennial Kingdom of Christ.

Now, we have seen that there is a training for this great battle, just like David was trained as a young man. As a young man he was trained —the Holy Spirit trained him— and that is why he had so many battles as a young shepherd; but notice, he always obtained the victory.

“DAVID’S TRAINING FOR THE BATTLE,” a type and figure of the Angel of the Lord Jesus Christ’s training for that great battle; just like Christ was also trained for the battle He was going to have against the devil.

“DAVID’S TRAINING FOR THE BATTLE.” That has been our subject for this occasion.

May God continue to bless you all.

“DAVID’S TRAINING FOR THE BATTLE.”
