Holy Supper and Washing of Feet Service

Now, we will go on to the Holy Supper and Washing of Feet.

According to the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew, chapter 26, verses 26 to 29, the Holy Supper is a commemoration, it is a commemoration, and therefore, it is very important for Christianity.

Christ tells us in Matthew, chapter 26, verses 26 and on:

“And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

Remember that this is a memorial; and the bread typifies the body of Christ who died on Calvary’s Cross, and the wine represents the Blood of Christ, which was shed for us there on Calvary’s Cross.

Therefore, let us consciously take the Holy Supper at this moment. And may God bless us greatly when we take the Holy Supper, of which the apostle Paul spoke in First of Corinthians, chapter, 11, verses 23 and on. And it says:

“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.”

It is clear to us here that it is a commemoration of the death and resurrection of Christ our Savior. Therefore, let us examine ourselves and take the Holy Supper having confessed our faults, our errors, our sins to Christ, so that we may eat blessing and for blessing, and thus commemorate the death of Christ on Calvary’s Cross.

Proceed with the Holy Supper.

Then we will have the Washing of Feet, wherein it is very important to understand that it is part of the Holy Supper, because in the Washing of Feet the faults, errors or sins we may have committed after having received Christ as Savior, we confess to Christ and Christ cleanses us from all sin with His Blood, and thus we are standing before the Lord without faults, errors, or sins.

Just as He forgave the sins we had committed before receiving Him as Savior, He also forgives and cleanses us with His Blood from all sins we committed after having received Him as our personal Savior.

Therefore, proceed with the Washing of Feet, which is part of the commemoration of the Holy Supper, which Christ laid the foundation there, where He washed the feet of His disciples after they took the Holy Supper, having eaten the bread and having taken the cup of wine.

And He told us: “For I have given you an example. Do this in remembrance of me, for I have given you an example.”

John, chapter 13, verse 3 and on, says:

“Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.

For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.

For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.”

So we can see that the Washing of Feet is also a memorial. And Christ says: “Happy are ye if ye do them.”

Therefore, you may proceed with the Washing of Feet at this time, here in Puerto Rico and in the rest of the countries. And may the blessings of Christ, the Angel of the Covenant, be upon all of you and upon myself as well. And may He always keep us clean of all sin with His Blood, which is represented in the Holy Supper and Washing of Feet.

Closing remarks

We have had the Holy Supper and Washing of Feet, which are three memorials Christ ordered for us to carry out in remembrance of Him and His Work of Redemption on Calvary’s Cross.

We find that the Passover typifies Jesus Christ. Saint Paul says in First Corinthians, chapter 5, verse 7:

“Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.”

Christ is the Paschal Lamb who was typified when the Hebrew people carried out the Passover with Moses by sacrificing a little lamb for the firstborn of the Hebrew people; and we find that by having the blood placed on the doors of the homes, on the lintel and posts of the homes, the angel of death would not enter those homes; this is how the life of the firstborn of the Hebrew people who lived there in Egypt would be preserved1.

And we find that the Paschal Lamb is Christ, who was sacrificed for us for the preservation of the eternal life with Christ in His Kingdom.

Then we find the Washing of Feet that Christ established and did, carried out for His disciples, just as the Passover that Christ celebrated there, giving them the bread: He broke the bread and gave to each one of them; and then took the cup of wine and gave to His disciples to drink. The body of Christ was represented in the bread and the Blood was represented in the wine.

Therefore, the bread is a memorial, the Holy Supper by taking the bread and drinking the wine in remembrance of Christ and His Sacrifice on Calvary’s Cross.

And then the Washing of Feet that Christ carried out to His disciples, represents that, after the person converts to Christ and is born again, errors, faults and sins are committed on come occasions, but the Blood of Christ keeps them clean by confessing your faults, errors and sins to Christ, after having already converted to Christ. And Christ keeps you clean of all sin, because the Blood of Christ keeps us clean of all sin.

Therefore, the Holy Supper and Washing of Feet are three memorials in remembrance of the Sacrifice of Christ and the Washing of Feet that He carried out for His disciples the night in which He carried out the Holy Supper with His disciples.

The apostle Paul, in First Corinthians, chapter 11, verses 23 and on, says:

Here, it shows us that the Holy Supper is a memorial, it is in remembrance of Christ and His Sacrifice on Calvary’s Cross.

The Holy Supper is in remembrance of Christ, and there is great blessing by taking the Holy Supper and the Washing of Feet.

“For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come (in other words, the death of the Lord is remembered each time we take the Holy Supper).

Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

Here we can see that there is a great blessing in the Holy Supper and in the Washing of Feet, but there is also a curse for the one who takes it unworthily.

That is why it is important to confess our faults and errors and sins to Christ, so that when we take the Holy Supper it may be of blessing for each one of us, and therefore we are of blessing for other persons as well.

The Holy Supper and Washing of Feet, three memorials that Christ gave to His Church to be practiced until His Coming.

Therefore, it is important to understand what the Holy Supper and the Washing of Feet is and means for all the believers in Christ.

Christ Himself said: “Do this in remembrance of me,” and He also says that we are blessed by knowing it and carrying it out. He says… This is in John, chapter 13, verse 3 and on:
